Jay Z Champagne April Release
Here comes a bottle for the most major celebration: Armand de Brignac’s Blanc de Noirs Assemblage Two, aka A2, from the centuries-old house owned by the rapper Jay-Z, which hits the market on April 18. According to Time one article Americans would have to work 33 hours to afford one bottle!
On Wednesday, Jay and his company announced that they will be going ultra-ultra-premium by rolling out a special edition bubbly that will cost $850 per bottle.
Serving as a collectors item, there will only be 2,333 bottles produced in total, with each bottle receiving an engraved number tag. So you better act fast if you want one for your next special occasion.
The A1 did win numerous taste tests around the world and was named the best champagne in the world by Fine Champagne magazine last year. But none of its positive critiques justified the steep price. The A2 is said to have a similar fruity taste with a hint of peppermint. There will only be 2,333 bottles produced so it is expected to be an instant collector’s item.
“We hadn’t thought about numbering them originally. But customers and collectors were requesting specific numbers: 888, or their birth date,” Chief Executive Officer, Sebastien Besson said while speaking with Bloomberg, explaining the move was not to combat fraud. “We haven’t found counterfeit wines…Anyway, it’s harder to counterfeit champagne than it is to fake a red wine. It’s just too complicated.”
